One-Part, Flexible Bituminous Rubber Emulsion Coating

ISONEM BE 89 is a one part, solvent-free, flexible, fiber reinforced, high build coating based on a bituminous rubber emulsion. Once applied to the substrate, it cures to a highly flexible, waterproof coating which is highly elastic and crack-bridging and forms an excellent seam- and jointless waterproofing layer. The product has high mechanical resistance and crack-bridging capacity and open to vapour diffision.

Waterproofing of all types of below ground concrete structures to protect from water ingress.

Application Instructions

Application Method / Tools

  • Application can be done by brush, roller, or spray gun. First layer should be applied in one direction only and following layer to be perpendicular to the previous one.
  • Spray application:
    • Use compressed air spray suitable for high viscous liquids with a feed
      pressure of ~ 4 bar.
    • Pressure at gun ~ 2.5 bar.
    • Apply in two coats.
    • Do not mix the product with other materials.
  • Waiting Time /Overcoating
Waiting time depends on the ambient temperature, substrate temperature, relative humidity and the thickness of coating applied. Before applying the second layer, make sure that the first layer is totally cured and dry. Wait 4 hours (at 23°C and %50 relative humidity)
  • Notes on Application /Limitations
    • This product is not generally suitable on its own for waterproofing against hydrostatic pressure
    • It is recommended to reinforce the vertical and horizontal joints of excessively cracked surfaces by using geotextile protection layer.
    • Freshly applied material should be protected from rain and/or frost for 24 hours.
    • Applications to be exposed to direct sunlight, should be at least 1 mm thick.
    • ISONEM BE 89 should not be applied during rain, fog and temperatures below +5°C.

Curing & Other Details

  • ISONEM BE 89 is:
    • Applied at 23°C:
    • Achieves its mechanical strength after five days
    • Becomes fully waterproof after almost seven days
    • Reaches its final strength values after fourteen days
    • At low temperatures, above mentioned durations can be longer
    • approx. 1,5 kg/m2 / 1mm approx.
    • 20 kg plastic pails
    • 12 months from date of production, if stored properly in unopened and undamaged original sealed packaging. Protect from frost.
    • Clean all tools and application equipment with clean water immediately after use.
